Guide to the
Transcription of Parish Regsters

Encouraged by the usefulness of the St James the Great Churchyard Memorials Database compiled in 2001, three members of our congregation, Nigel Rixson, Maureen Hargrave and Des Conridge, have transcribed additional databases from the original parish baptism, marriage and burial registers.

• Nigel Rixson has recorded details of all baptisms contained in the parish records from 1751 up to 1960.
• Nigel's second database lists all marriages that were conducted at St James the Great, Thorley between 1754 and 1961.
• Maureen Hargrave's transcription of the burials in the parish of Thorley extends from 1813 until 1925.
• Des Conridge has transcribed the next Burial Register, 1925 up till 1992.

We would be very pleased to hear from family historians who are able make use of these databases in their researches.
